spring shoewear

March 29, 2008

Lately, I’ve been looking at my shoe collection with disgust. Black, black, black everywhere, with the occasional pair of vans I wear to school. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with black. In fact that color (or lack thereof) is a staple in my closet and is what I am drawn too. But I need some black relief.

Last year’s spring shoe was the gladiator sandal, and I tried to stay away from them for so long. Why? Because it seemed uncomfortable, impractical, and kind of ugly. But I retract my previous thoughts. I take it back! One year later, I’m jonesing for a good pair of wearble gladiator shoes. Here’s what I’ve found:

”Tells” from Enzo Angioloni. I like the golden buckles and how all the straps connect to the neck of the shoe.
from Pelle Moda. Simple and plain but very cute. The best part of this shoe is that it doesn’t hit too high up on your ankle.
from Pelle Moda again. Gold is my lover, and the simple one strap makes the shoe more practical.

  1. Don’t know how you feel about Old Navy, but these shoes are actually really really cute in the store! They didn’t have them in my size, but I’m buying them online asap! They have other styles too, if you want to browse through them :)

  2. Oohh I know what you mean!
I think ankle boots a crime against fashion…and yet I found a pair of Steve Madden ones and HAD to have them. Ugh. They’re so ugly…but I love them haha. I only wear them under long jeans so they just look heels hehe.

I’m on the fence about gladiators as well. I couldn’t see myself in a pair but I love the examples you’ve shown, especially the second ones!
