Remember me?

In lieu of the writers strike and lack of “good” tv (I’m not a reality fan), I’ve turned to two other forms of entertainment: the internet, and reading. While reading for fun isn’t something new for me, I think that I plowed through more book sin the past two months than before.

My book choices range from serious pieces like Angela’s Ashes to nonfiction books like In Defense of Food and of course, the fun chick-lit kinds. Enter in Sophie Kinsella’s Remember Me?

In high school, I read Confessions of a Shopaholic and laughed my way through the entire thing. Sophie Kinsella writes in a first person narrative, giving you an inside look into the mind of the main character whose daily troubles consist of scheming her way out of financial woes while at the same time charging a wonderful Lanvin purse to her overburdened credit card. One of my other favorites from Sophie Kinsella is Can You Keep A Secret which is about a girl who has so many secrets that eventually get her into a lot of trouble. The book is like reading someone’s diary, which I found highly entertaining.

This new book, Remember me?, has the same witty undertones as her previous novels. While I won’t give away the whole story, the plot goes something like this: girl breaks up with boy, girl gets drunk, girl wakes up in the future without her memory, and girl realizes that she has an amazing life, fully equipped with a big house, fancy job, and gorgeous husband.

If you are looking for a laugh-out-loud book to enjoy over spring break or a novel to dive into on your lunch breaks, this one is it. I was lucky enough to meet Sophie Kinsella last year at a book signing and she is as sweet and funny in person as the characters that she writes.

Amanda - I adored the shopaholic series, especially the first and second one. The last couple weren’t my favorites but they were entertaining nonetheless.
