melting away

Tons of pictures currently lay waiting in my computer. Recipes and stories are being held hostage.
Why?
Because the heat kills all motivation.

It’s 102 degrees outside right now. That’s unbearable. I woke up this morning, sweating already. Talk about disgusting. I guess I shouldn’t complain so much, considering I savoured the blue skies and open beach yesterday in Santa Cruz, CA.

The beach practically shouted my name, and I couldn’t stay away. My cousin is in town so we showed her around local spots in California (local meaning two hours away, mind you). Instead of the smoky skies back at home, I saw nothing but cloudless skies and tons of people basking in the sun. We gave my cousin her first churro (she loved it), walked around the ocean, had dinner at my favorite Irish pub, and spent hours browsing through the used bookstore. I luckily found a used copy of Rose Levy Beranbaum’s Cake Bible. I can’t wait to put it to use too.

While I had the best intentions to start posting more frequently, I can’t muster the needed energy to write and post. But I promise you, the things I’ve made recently have been stellar.

Now, if you don’t mind, important matters like my Mad Men marathon and a mint chocolate chip Tofutti ice cream sandwich call my name.

Oooh, enjoy Mad Men! It’s so good. And if that last photo is a Tofutti ice cream sandwich, I think I want one. Gorgeous shot.
I always look for no bake recipes in the heat, too but sometimes it’s just more fun to go out for a Sundae! :)

Oh man, ice cream sandwiches make me not want to post either! Great pictures! :)
Hey, the key to posting is to have a very large fan blowing on you … LOL!
