In the past month, I’ve baked: one big birthday cake for my mom, a peanut butter pie for a friend’s birthday, peanut butter with chocolate cookies for a baby shower, a batch of peanut butter sandwich cookies for coworkers, a blackberry jam cake that is perfect for picnics, and two other recipes that have yet to featured here. To be honest, I’m exhausted. My kitchen is a mess, and you know you need a baking break when you grimace at the mere sight of the butter and eggs stacking up in your fridge.
Not only that, but it’s summer. Duh. I would rather be out walking around town than be stuck at home slaving away in my kitchen. With 100 degree heat. Not good, my friends.

Unfortunately, things in the baking department will come to a slow halt here. Don’t cry, things will be fine. I will post the remaining two recipes I’ve got and then who knows. I’m going to put a self-imposed baking block for about 4 weeks, which can be a lifetime in the blogging world. But I’m not going to leave you hanging.
If you don’t mind, I will start posting more of pictures on the blog and since that has really got me entertained, you will start seeing more posts here. I used to post about 5 times a week, now I’m struggling to make one post a week. But I have never stopped taking pictures and it’s become something I can’t live without doing. Funny how one little blog started almost two years ago can open up such grand doors.
Lastly, I’m proud to announce that I am Examiner.com’s new Vegetarian blogger for Sacramento. Yup, me the meateater is taking the plunge and embarking on an animal-friendly journey. It’s not gonna be easy, but you should follow along and keep up with my veggie loving ways. When in doubt, you can find me at my other blog, Head Over Heels, where I write about everything.
I hope you all stick around, despite the lack of sweet treats. If not, I understand. The allure of sugar and chocolate was just too strong, but for those who stay, thanks! You always were my favorites :)

In the meantime, I’m currently having a weekend-long marathon of “The Tudors”. Watching Henry the 8th exploit and rule over everyone is absolutely entertaining. If you haven’t seen this show, what are you waiting for?! Gorgeous men, fantastic costumes, and did I mention the eye candy? Yeah. Get on it!!

whitneyinchicago - I haven’t seen the Tudors. I may have to Netflix it after the Bar. You are right that it is just too hot to bake much in the summer.
nikole - beautiful photos.
Alya - You deserve a break :) But if I may ask, would you be willing to post other types of recipes non-sweet related? Like salads or sandwiches or whatever else you whip up in the kitchen other than baked goods.
Maybe that would help keep the foodies sticking around! Hehehe.. I’m still gonna be here though :)
Kim - Dang! That is a LOT of baking. We get 100+ degree weather in my hometown and I wouldn’t be caught dead baking in it, so kudos to you. Enjoy your bake-ation!!
Jess - Amanda, I love the way you blog, girl. I have a feeling that however you choose to fill this space, we won’t be disappointed. Congrats on the new writing gig!
Kimi - I love your site, especially the beautiful photos. Can you tell me what is the name of the purple flower? it looks like a lilac, but much prettier. thanks!
