Many Thanks
Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting a SLH reader and she was so sweet. I don’t normally do the whole “meeting online people in real life” but since my move to NYC, I say why not. As long as I don’t get the weird stalker vibes from you, I think it’s a great way to meet people.
Anyways, back to the reader, she said some things that made me get all flustered and shy. She said that she could relate to my adjustment period since she just completed her own cross-country move. Over coffee and many laughs, I realized that here was a person who actually read my words and didn’t think I was crazy/strange/nuts. Which, if you knew me at all, is pretty true but that’s not the point. The fact that she CONNECTED to what I wrote and actually found comfort through them knocked me off my rocker.
I forget that there are readers out there, that YOU are out there. Sometimes I wonder if this thing is even still on, to be honest. But, after almost four years, you guys are still here. I don’t know how to say thank you with you being there and me being here.
If I could, I’d invite you all for some breakfast and coffee/tea. Then, once the awkward silence has left the room, we’d move on to mimosas and fruit parfaits, macarons, and petit fours.
Anyways, to sum it up, I want to give you an online handshake. For staying here. For being here. For not letting me hit the delete button.

Funny about meeting a blog connection in person–It seems sort of crazy, but when I think about it most of my favorite blogs I read are by people who I think I would actually be friends with in real life.
I thank my lucky stars every day for SLH because if it didn’t exist, I would have never met you. You’re one of my closest friends and even though we live a million miles apart, I’ve always got your back and I know you’ve always got mine.
I hope you can meet even more readers that you can connect well with in real life. I’m not surprised that your readers can actually relate to what you go through. Before I got to know you words and experiences have been of great comfort (and amusement) to me.

One of my favourite online things is to read blogs from people who live in places I’d love to travel to, or who live far away from me – thanks for sharing little parts of your life, although I’m far away it does resonate with me :)
