If you haven’t been following my Instagram account, you might be wondering: what the heck is Amanda doing? I know, January-February is one of the hardest times for me, blogging wise. Throw in a new job and out-of-town friends, and you have me. But that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been doing anything. I just haven’t been blogging, ha. Anyways, I thought I’d do a winter edition of local eats here in the big cold city. I’ve sufficiently eaten pretty tasty food and if you happen to be in the city, you should check them out too. Oh, and follow me on Instagram at @aboyce18 – I’m not saying it will rock your world but it might get pretty close.
Yes, it’s crazy busy and they don’t take reservations BUT you should definitely visit Rosemary’s in the West Village. The pastas are hearty and perfectly-proportioned. Plus the desserts are to die for. Trust me, on my birthday we ordered almost everything and it was delicious.
I’ve got three words for you: DIY Bloody Marys. Yup, you heard me. Get thee to Saxon and Parole and don’t forget to order their Baked Eggs dish.
Pancake fans, unite! It’s Clinton St. Baking Company‘s official month of pancakes where all February, they offer specialty flavors. I went with a gang of ladies and we tried the German Chocolate variety – so good. I fully plan on hitting this place up two more times before February is over.
From pancakes to french toast, you could say I’m a brunch fan. It’s just something about a big breakfast that makes me happy. And Leyla‘s french toast is definitely worth talking about. Caramelized outsides with soft, sweet insides and topped with a caramel sauce you will cry over. It might have been one of the best french toasts I’ve had in the city.
And, to end this post, it seemed fair to talk about The Standard Grill‘s chocolate chip cookie. In their desert menu, it would be easy to over these cookies but I urge you to give them proper attention. Chunky, sweet and huge, they are the best way to end a night. With the mandatory glass of milk.
