Famous modern art artists
After showcasing outstanding artistic creativity for the better part of his early life, Picasso went on to acquire the status of the most significant artist of the twentieth century. Georges-Pierre was a French draftsman and post-impressionist painter. His large-scale artwork, dubbed Sunday Afternoon on Island of La-Grade Jatte, initiated Neo-Impressionism and hence changed entirely the direction of modern art. Georges-Pierre Seurat is among the icons of late nineteenth-century painting. Other artworks under his name include Gray Weather, Lighthouse at Hon fleur and Grade Jatte.
Besides Portinari being important Brazilian painter, he was a prominent and hence influential user of neo-realism form of painting. Born to Domenica Torquato and Giovan Battista, both of who were Italian immigrants who originated from Veneto, Portinari went to Escola Nacional in Rio. In 1928 he was awarded a trip to Paris and gold medal. He stayed in Paris until 1930, before returning back to Brazil. Fifteen or so years later, he became a member of the Brazilian Communist party. He vied for a senatorial seat in 1947. He fled to Uruguay following widespread persecution of Communists during the reign of Gasper Dutra.
Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent, a post-impressionist artist, had a troublesome life interrupted with mental instability. He, sadly finally hot himself using a revolver and passed on two days later. He, nonetheless, rose to recognition in the early twentieth century, about 100 years after his death. He was even eventually feted for being a prominent figure in the emergence of modern art. To date, he is regarded as one of the influential figures in the development and improvement of western art.
Born in 1939, Schneemann is undoubtedly a touchstone for female art movement in the US. While her works of art date back to 1960s and 1970s, it took over 50 years for this performance pioneer to be recognized as an influential modern art artist. This year Schneemann even won the coveted Gold Lion lifetime accomplishment award and was feted at Venice Biennale. In October, he opened her own museum named MoMA PS1, the first comprehensive reflection of her 60-year-old career.
While it may not be possible to exhaustively name the persons who substantially shaped and influence modern art, the above personalities made significant contributions. Their unwavering dedication, coupled with their creativity and compelling talent continually took them to greater heights. So, even as we marvel at post-modern art, it is important to recognize their contribution.
